Meet Our Chef
Chef Alvrie is no stranger to the culinary world. Started his career as apprentice in Sydney, Australia then follow by working at different hotel chain his native country Jakarta, Indonesia. He started to build upon his international portfolio by taking up the position of VU’S Restaurant in Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, Dubai. His skill in the kitchen was quick to be noticed and landed him the role of Sous Chef Junior at Al Muntaha Restaurant in the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, both hotel operated under Jumeirah Group.
He joined Shangri-la Villingill Resort & Spa, Maldives as Sous Chef and then was promoted as Chef de Cuisine for Fashala Restaurant at Shangri-la Villingill Resort & Spa, Maldives. He continued to fast-track his career by moving with the Shangri-la group to their Rasa Ria Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. His next big jump was with the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia to work as Chef de Cuisine in their View Restaurant and K22 Bar as part of the pre opening team. Chef Alvrie’s last stint before embarking on his exciting journey with the W Doha Hotel & Residences, was as Chef de Cuisine with the Hotel Restaurante El Balcon in Aviles, Asturias, Spain.
Chef Alvrie’s one wish is to have and operate his own restaurant and the destination of choice for this venture would be either Napa Valley or Bhutan. With serious skills to back his time in the kitchen, Spice Market by Jean-Georges is certain to grow from strength to strength under the leadership of Chef Alvrie.
